Abstract

In recent meta-analysis studies, it was observed that progesterone treatments, despite some disagreements between the results, generally improved the pregnancy rates observed when P4 is used between days 3 and 7 after insemination, with more significant effects in animals with low fertility when compared to animals with good fertility. The study was conducted on a farm in the city of Unaí-Mg from February 2021 to January 2022, a total of 101 lactating females were randomly divided as follows: the P4 before P4A group (n= 25) received 300 mg of P4LA i.m 10 days before the start of the protocol (D-10), the P4 before and after P4AD group (n=25) received 300 mg of P4LA i. m 10 days before the start of the protocol (D-10) and 900 mg of P4LA i.m 3 days after insemination, the P4 after P4D group (n= 22) received 900 mg of P4LA i.m 3 days after insemination and the control group GC (n= 29) received 2 ml of 0.9 % saline solution i.m on D-10 and 6 ml of 0.9 % saline solution on the 3rd day after insemination. In this study, P4LA supplementation in lactating cows was not effective in improving the conception rate of these animals, regardless of the period it was administered.
