Abstract

A variety of schools on organizational theory came up – some seeking to assist on a deficiency and/or need, others focused on studies and academic surveys – and they established themselves on the business scenario. For this reason, when studying the managerial behavior it is highly important to identify the main factors that influenced the organization and made possible that the organizational culture reached the current development stage. In this sense, this research analyzes the evolution of the modern theories on business management and the process of schooling of the organizational theories. Through the study of theories such as Contingency Approach, Management by Objectives, Strategic Management, Participative Management and Japanese Style Management, it tries to identify the possible organizational theories that influenced and modeled the agricultural administration in the XXI century. From the obtained theoretical picture, a case study on the application of the agricultural organizational theory was elaborated using the organizational development of the Companhia Melhoramentos Norte do Paraná (CMNP) as a model.
