Milk commercialization aspects in supermarkets, barkeries and convenience stores in the retail sector of Natal, RN

Abstract
This study aims to investigate the amount of brands and the origin of Ultrapasteurized milk (UHT) and pasteurized in plastic bags, sold in the retail sector of small and large supermarket chains in Natal/RN. For this, it was performed a selection and classification in large premises (supermarkets) and small (bakeries, convenience stores and neighborhood markets) located in North and South of the city. After this step, the local markets were visited to carry out the data collection on the milk description, detailing the brands and the manufacturing sites. After collecting data, the results were evaluated by means of frequency analysis and descriptive statistics. In the study it was observed that regardless the establishments surveyed location (south or north), Pasteurized milk type were mostly found in small establishments. Regarding the origin, it was found that all the UHT milk were from other states, both in large as in small establishments. Pasteurized milk are all local products, they are all from the state of RN. In addition, all brands sold in large networks are also sold in small networks, however, the reverse does not occur. The milk market in thestate of RN is still not competitive when it comes to UHT milk type. Most milk brands are found in large establishments. Regional products are found only in small establishments.
