Organization management in agribusiness: an analysis comprising the 2000-2009 period

Abstract

The results of a research on studies developed in Brazil on "management in agribusiness organizations" between 2000 and 2009 are provided. The following specific aims have been suggested: (a) the description of the main features of research reported on management in agribusiness organizations; (b) a bibliometrics analysis of publications; and (c) the development of the articles’ sociometrics analysis. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, bibliometrics analysis and social networks analysis. Fifty-seven published articles were selected from some of the main Brazilian journals on management. The main results were: (i) 42% of articles were published during the last three years; (ii) 86% of authors published only once about the studied subject; (iii) cooperation networks among researchers are not very extensive; in fact, they are scattered and without links with one another (mere 1.73% density); and (iv) the main methods of data collection were semi-structured interviews, documentary research and questionnaires.
