Abstract

High competitiveness levels established in the economic field have required that cooperatives develop mechanisms to ensure their sustainability in the market. Since these organizations in fact face the challenges of a more complex reality, an appropriate management model is greatly relevant. The management of the Agricultural Cooperative of Julio de Castilho (COTRIJUC) is analyzed and the procedures and management tools used by the cooperative, based on the model proposed by Oliveira (2006), are identified with the consequent understanding of the COOTRIJUC management system. Personal interviews and in-depth questionnaires with structured and unstructured questions were undertaken. Results show that the components of the model are known and valorized by the managers even though the cooperative does not have the expected performance in certain items.
