Environmental sustainability by an electricity-producing company

Abstract

The disordered and unaccounted use of natural resources went unnoticed for many years. Recently an increasing interest in the implementation of social and environmental measures has been taken, triggered by the imminent scarcity of natural resources. Owing to the environmental issue, current essay investigates whether there exists a management of environmental impacts within an electric company and what is the degree of environmental sustainability of the electrical company. Current research shows a management system of environmental impacts in a firm dedicated to the generation and distribution of electricity by an analysis of environmental sustainability and performance. Methodology was constituted by three distinct phases: theoretical basis, description of a case study, and the analysis of environmental sustainability based on guidelines provided by the Accounts Management and Environmental System (SICOGEA). An 83.33% of sustainability for the Eco-efficiency criterion of the service is adequate by the evaluation method of environmental management adopted by the company. It also reveals high environmental performance by which the company valorizes the environment with ecological production and pollution prevention. Results show that the company has a management system of the environmental variable within the service section to lessen negative impacts to the environment.
