Pre-harvest conservation and quality of “Folha Murcha” oranges stored at two temperatures

Abstract

Pre-harvest liabilities may account for 50% in fruit and the development of proper techniques are required for the maintenance of fruit qualities within a more extensive storing period. The quality of “Folha Murcha” oranges, stored at temperatures 7ºC and 25ºC for 60 days is analyzed for 0, 15, 30, 45 and 60 days of storing. Analyses on mass loss, juice percentage, SST, Brix, Vitamin C, phenolic compounds, carotenoids and reductional and total sugar were undertaken at the end of each storing period. It has been verified that fruits have mass loss and Vitamin C increase at the two temperatures under analysis. However, “Folha Murcha” oranges maintained their physical and chemical qualities when conserved under refrigeration.
