Abstract

The variability and spatial dependence structure of basic infiltration rate of soils in agronomic experimental areas in the northwestern region of the state of Paraná, Brazil are investigated. Each sampling area was divided into thirty-six 2 x 2 m sub-parcels. A water ground infiltration test was undertaken at the center of each sub-parcel by an infiltrometer with constant load of concentric rings, adjusted by Kostiakov model, to determine basic infiltration rate. Results´ variability was performed by descriptive statistics. Varied response Box-Cox transformation was employed to better attend to the presuppositions of the adopted geo-statistical model. Parameters kriging (τ2), spatial variability (σ2) and reach (Φ) were estimated by the maximum verosimilarity method. Estimates of model parameters suggest sample distances or approximately 12 and 3 meters for area and samplings under analysis
