Abstract
Assay results are provided to evaluate the accumulation rate of green and dry matter and the efficiency of nitrogen and potassium absorption of grass sprouts of the genus Cynodon on wastewater from the pharmaceutical and chemical industries with electrical conductivity 0.0; 3.1; 5.5; 7.9 and 10.5 dSm-1. It was reported during the experiment that the grass’s tolerance time was reduced with the increase of electrical conductivity of the treatment whilst productivity decreased. At the end of the experiment, rates of dry matter of the vegetal tissue diminished with an increase in electrical conductivity of wastewater and that the radical system was more sensitive to treatment that the vegetal’s aerial segment. It has also been reported that nitrogen and potassium absorption were adjusted to second order regression equations with the increase in electrical conductivity of wastewater.
