Abstract

Application of Environmental Education in a supermarket in Campinas SP Brazil is analyzed. The manner these firms may contribute towards the insertion of adequate environmental activities in the organization´s culture and its organizational practices is also analyzed. Interviews undertaken with the firm´s employees were foregrounded on concepts from Organizational Culture proposed by Schein (2009) and Environmental Education by Pedrini (2008) and Dias (2010). It became evident that the organization under analysis did not have any environmental education policy that would provide the employees information on the environment and made the organization environmentally correct. The firm did not have an organizational culture based on environmental aspects. Discussion is relevant due to deficiencies in studies on the environment, especially within the organizational context. Although investigation deals with a single case, the requirements of organizations may emerge so that they could develop organizational cultures directed towards sustainability in the environmental axis and thus develop in their workers a more compatible behavior with current social demands. Results show the flaws of firms when they introduced environmental aspects within their organizational culture.
