Abstract

Consumption standards have caused an impact on the environment. Current essay discusses the effectiveness of activities that aim at preserving the environment from a conscience-raising point of view through the presentation of actions which produce significant results. It is necessary that productive processes are more effective and the aware consumer better informed on the social and environmental impacts of the desired products so that profounder changes may occur. The concept of sustainable consumption does not depend only on individual initiatives or on consumption decrease. Sustainability education becomes the main trigger of change in so far as it develops a new way of thought and opinions. Individual consumers are responsible for what they consume and should demand products and services that would contribute towards sustainable consumption.
