Abstract

Birds of prey are different due to their hunting features with a bent and sharp beak and strong sharp claws. Daylight species normally have a very sensitive vision, whereas the night species have specialized hearing for hunting and modified feathers for silent flight. The objective of this study is to build a website containing information on all Brazilian birds of prey – their reproduction, nest building, feeding habits, distribution, habitat, taxonomic classification, photographs and, in some cases, their noises. Another objective is to present the main threats and preservation measures of those birds of prey that are threatened by extinction. As a result, the site has all species of falcons in the Brazilian territory and some of the main species of owls. The threats and conservation measures that were presented have the objective to make the general population more aware of the different species in order to better preserve them, and to stimulate the authorities to take better preservation measures.
