Abstract

The legislation linked up to environmental issues was created in order to conduct the use of natural resources, the known “nature products": water, soil, forests, air and animals. This study aimed to analyze the Brazilian legislation on aspects of preservation and conservation of the natural resources (soil and water), bringing back the historical process of legislation development. Water is essential to the subsistence and anthropic activities, because unlike other resources it cannot be replaced in most part of its applications. The soil is as important as the water resources. Consequently, a legal protection of these resources is necessary.
