Current Profile of Brazilian Social Organizations: Concepts and Legislation of the Service Sector

Abstract

The contextualization on the profile of the service sector in Brazil is discussed with regard to the classification of organizations, their area of influence, their responsibilities granted by the state, and to legislation with regard to accountability according to the Federal Council of Accounting and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Brazil. Research methodology consisted of a theoretical survey in books, articles, monographs, theses, dissertations and legislation that characterized the Brazilian service sector with regard to the classification of organizations in associations and foundations, their working areas, certificates granted by the Brazilian government and the technical and federal legislation related to accountability at the federal level. Research showed that the State does no longer have exclusive rights on the development of public policy activities and that the mobilization of civil society to meet its social needs tend to grow and fortify itself.
