Abstract
Students' difficulties in the Accounting Course are analyzed. A survey of the literature on the issue and the manner the educational process in Brazil has developed are undertaken. It seems that there are pre-established norms and a set of procedures that govern the transmission of knowledge to students. Further, the teaching process is investigated from the perspective of the teacher and the student. Controversial interests are identified. They mainly comprise the student’s initial idea on the course and the teachers’ formation and attitude in the classroom in developing the content without taking into consideration the students’ needs and the labor market. Current descriptive and bibliographical research evidences the results by descriptive statistics obtained through a sample survey of 134 valid questionnaires. They manifest students’ difficulties with regard to the time available with several activities, to personal finance and to the understanding of the contents taught.
