Abstract

A theoretical approach on the approximation of knowledge management with balanced scorecard is undertaken with special focus on the financial perspective, clients, internal processes, learning and growth, discussed by Kaplan and Norton. Greater emphasis is given to the learning and growth perspective due to their foregrounding of the balances scorecard structure. The latter contributes towards the perusal of the aims of the other perspectives in a cause-effect chain, since it approaches most to knowledge management. A bibliographical research was undertaken to understand the theme to be analyzed and to describe the relationships among its components. Results showed that knowledge management should promote the undertaking of activities aligned to the organization’s strategic aims. As people undertake their activities, the spiral of knowledge completes itself within the inter-relationship between tacit and explicit knowledge.
