Abstract
Current descriptive, documental and quantitative analysis identifies evidenciation of costs before and after the adoption of international accounting norms of the 20 largest Brazilian open capital and non-financing firms listed on the BM&F Bovespa, following the Exame magazine. Content analysis technique was employed through Administration and Explication Notes Reports of the firms and through the application of Logistic Regression. Firms were classified according to their corporation governance level and the analysis of a period prior and posterior to the deployment of international accounting norms was undertaken. Results show that Level 1 Traditional Market firms and those of the New Market exhibit preponderantly their acquisition costs (bonds and premises), service and stock costs, and valorization criteria. It should be underscored that, as a rule, the Traditional Market firms Petrobras and Ambev have the highest evidence levels. Natura, BRF Foods and CCR S.A. are highlighted among the New Market firms, whereas Vale S.A., Usiminas and the Pao de Açúcar Group are underscored among the Level 1 firms. In fact, a significant evolution occurred at the level of information disclosure. Results corroborated research hypothesis H1, confirmed by logistic regression, and showed a significant impact of international accounting norms on costs evidenciation of the 20 largest Brazilian firms.
