Jerusalem: a symbolic and historical trail

Abstract

Some cities demand specific approaches to understand its historical, social, political and symbolic meaning. In the Antiquity, this is applied to one of the most known and important urban centers: Jerusalém, Reached its acme with Salommon of the great mosque of Omar. Field of the main events of the history of Israel ettracted the attention of invaders that depredated it in different moments. One of its crucial moments is certainly when it becomes the center of the war between Jews and Romans narrated by Flavius Josephus, occasion in that the temple was destroyed by a great fire. With the creation of the State of Israel, the city become again object of dispute, now engaging Jews and Palestinian that consider Jerusalém its political and symbolic center.
