Abstract

Brazilian agrarian history has always been linked to land concentration. After centuries of land concentration in Brazil, several segments of the rural population strive to own land. The agrarian structure of a determined space may be a study theme of a geography teacher since several factors are related to such a situation. Current research aims to know the opinion of young people in the first year of the graduation course at the State University of Maringá, Maringá PR Brazil, on Agrarian reform and on the social movements involved. Most students have scanty knowledge on the subject but show a lively interest to deepen their knowledge. Many think that the theme is highly relevant for their professional formation.
