The city that we all want

Abstract

This work presents the legal basis that, since the promulgation of the 1988´s Brazilian Constitution, establishes how to construct the Directing Plan for the Brazilian cities, and describes some of the stages of the process for the elaboration of the Statute of the City of Maringá-PR, which took place in the year 2004, based on the news published in the newapaper "O Diário do Norte do Paraná". In highlights the participation of the city´s population in the discussion of the problems and in the definition of the guidelines in order to improve the living conditions of Maringá´s comunity, analusing and criticising the decisions taken by the administration of the Workers Party in that occasion.
