Abstract

The present paper has aimed at verify the aspects that interfere in the motivation of teachers in the state schools network in the primary and secondary education in the city of Maringá-PR, as well as to bring up possible solutions for the reality observed from the teachers point of view. Therefore, this work followed a model described by Severino (2002) as descriptive. The sample was constituted of eleven teachers, 04 in primary education and 07 in secondary education, all of them working during the day with a minimum of three years and a maximum of thirty years experience in teaching. After the application of a questionnaire, the results showed that the “salary” factor was not the element that most contributed to teachers lack of motivation. Results showed that lack of motivation had in the school reality its main cause, which in turn, is a reflex of a political, social and cultural relation that is in crisis, bring negative effects to education in general. According to the teachers point of view, it is necessary to promote awareness changes in the family and community, so that they can fulfill their role in educating together with the school, as well as restructuring educational policies and the implementation of continuous training (updating/specialization) for the teachers, so that they are able to bring new ideas and innovative projects to the heart of schools. The teachers understand to be necessary to be motivated to innovate, dare, create, recreate, persist, so that to motivate and educate the “man of tomorrow” (our emphasis) will be a much easier task.
