The use of the internet by companies from websites viewpoint

Abstract

The Internet is transforming the corporative world by electronically connecting millions of people worldwide. The World Wide Web (WWW), the graphic aspect in the Internet, has the potential of radically changing the way through which companies interact with their clients. In face of this scenery, this paper had the objective to verify if Maringá’s companies are using the resources offered by the WEB aimed at the electronic commerce. The method adopted was a study case carried out with a group of companies in Maringá. The results demonstrated that almost the totality of the companies in the sample is simply presenting their products and services in their sites, without taking advantage of all interactive possibilities offered by the Web. Thus, their sites are used just as a kind of on-line advertisement, not offering the possibility of carrying out orders or concluding on-line transactions.
