LIFE AND DEATH OF THE SMALL FIRM IN BRAZIL: CONCEPTUAL AND CONTEXTUAL ASPECTS FOR STRATEGIC REPOSITIONING

Abstract

A survey on small enterprises in Brazil is provided, highlighting theoretical and contextual aspects that define their importance within the national economic scenario. The idea of the small enterprise, problematized by several authors and investigated under many perspectives, is discussed. The bibliographical concepts systematized by Brazilian authors who investigate the peculiarities of the small Brazilian enterprise are presented. Based on research interpretations available by several institutions that map institutional growth and the bankruptcy of small firms, the factors that demand the organizations´ strategic repositioning are exposed. The concept of entrepreneur cluster is investigated and shows how the initiative may strengthen strategically Brazilian small businesses.
