IDENTIT Y IN ORGANIZATIONS: SCIENTIFIC PRODUCTION IN BRAZIL BET WEEN 2004 AND 2013

Abstract

Current essay analyzes academic production on the identity of organizations for notes on discussions related to the theme in the main journals and in the main national events on Administration in Brazil between 2004 and 2013. Identity has been underscored in journals and in national events since the relationships of individuals and organizations could be investigated, especially on the dialogue with issues related to the process of identification, gender, diversity, space, time and territoriality in work, power and symbolism. Research provides an analysis at the individual, group and organization levels on the methodological aspects that comprise research involving the theme of identity in organizations. Results show that the Brazilian production in organizations´ identity is developed empirically by case studies that deal with different types of organizations (public, private, small, medium and big). It became evident that there was a lack of methodological description and detailed analysis on the theme which may, up to a point, contribute towards methodological mistakes or conceptual dispersions. The issue may be justified due to page limits in the journals analyzed which lead the authors to direct their focus on discussions and conclusions and second-rated the methodological issues.
