Abstract

Landscape modeling agents in the municipality of Iranduba after the inauguration of the river Rio Negro linking Manaus and the neighboring town Iranduba AM Brazil, are identified and characterized. The influence of the capital city Manaus on the neighboring municipality is analyzed to pinpoint changes in Iranduba. Manaus with its two million inhabitants is the main economic and industrial center in the northern region of Brazil due to its Industrial Pole with more than 500 factories and a huge attractive center for migrants and immigrants from several places in search of work and better life conditions. Throughout the years, the capital city always had a huge influence on its metropolitan municipalities particularly after the 2011 inauguration of the Rio Negro bridge. Impact became greater still on Iranduba with regard to real estate and the occupation of the whereabouts of the highway AM-070, and to the removal of forest covering. Current analysis not only identifies and describes changes in the landscape but also gives information on the influence of the bridge in the spatial reorganization of Iranduba.
