Abstract

Family agriculture has recently been underscored in several public policies which focus on this social category. The Food Acquisition Program, funded by the Brazilian government, acquires agricultural products directly from farmers. Current analysis identifies and analyzes production and commercialization strategies in family agriculture in the community of Curuçambá in Ananindeua PA Brazil. A survey was undertaken from the registers of the organs that undertook the program and from interviews with municipal and cooperative managers. Results reveal that, although there was an increase in the number of farmers in the program, FAP still demonstrated difficulties and limitations in the distribution of resources and lack of technical help outside the harvest period of regional products. This is mainly due to management within municipal and state administration and lack of organization by farmers.
