FEMALE PARTICIPATION IN SOFTWARE FIRMS IN CRICIÚMA, BRAZIL

Abstract

Females have increased their participation in the Brazilian labor market and they have better working conditions even though unequal when compared to males especially in the case of work regulations and performance. Female participation in labor market in software-manufacturing firms in Criciúma SC Brazil is analyzed.Current research comprises field investigation and bibliographic review. The target population was mapped following the website Empresas Brasil, with 21 firms in the software area in Criciúma. Primary data were collected through a technique for quantitative data, employing questionnaire with Google Docs sent by e-mail to a firm officer who forwarded it to female workers. Results revealed satisfaction with the regard to their functions and to the benefits received. The organization milieu and the sense of acknowledgement and valorization of the family comprised the most relevant indexes. Disadvantages comprise bias by males and employers and their difficulties in leaving the home due to children.
