THE GENESIS OF MEDIEVAL UNIVERSITIES AND CONTEMPORARY EXPERIENCES WITH THE ELDERLY AT THE UNIVERSITIES
Abstract
Approximation issues between the origin of medieval universities and aspects related to experiences in extension courses, such as the Open University for the Elderly (UEM) and the Better Living group (Unespar), are described. Thomas Aquinas (1997), Bonaventure of Bangoregio (1983), the Papal Bull for the University of Paris (1964), Le Goff (1999), Pieper (2007), Cardoso (1997) and Teixeira (1969) were referenced. After analysis following bibliographic methodology, it has been established that, if, on the one hand, contemporary experiences have been considered highly informal by the Ministry of Culture, on the other hand, they have a certain formality due to their link with university extension courses. These experiences may be a manner for the recuperation of the genesis of the university due to their knowledge on human formation. Further, they are actually a paradox since most elderly do not have any activity within the labor market, overcoming formal requirements for the formation of the productive being.References
