Educational Role of Women and the People in the 19th Century

Abstract

This text aims at analyzing how the French historian Jules Michelet, in the 19th century, presents and assess the Middle Ages, especially the woman and the people. The main aspect of this study focus on the way the author links medieval issues of the 14th century with the political disputes in his time. We shall focus on the role that education has in the transition process from the Middle Ages to modernity, and the way it is seen by Michelet in the 19th century, paying particular attention to the women’s position in children’s development.
