Abstract

Jesus Christ is a fundamental presence in our western world and culture, even for those who deny his divinity or look for alternative explanations outside the theological dominium. Concerning history – thus, tangible –conditions emerge out of the region of his origin, the poor and oppressed Galilee, under the Roman Empire domination. Appearing in the Middle East, in the cradle of Judaism, Jesus’ doctrine differed from others in its time due to the desire of its disciples to preserve its apostolate and its reach, which crossed land and sea borders, and marked time-space with its universal preaching. Paul, Saul of Tarsus, extemporaneous disciple, but not less involved in his doctrine, was the great responsible for this ideal, reaffirmed in the Jerusalem Council (50 AD). Independently of factions or the discussion if Jesus had the intention to create a “church”, the Palestine seed resulted in a fronded tree, with many branches. The starting point at the Sermon on the Mount spread an ethos that even today guides our ideology and humanism. Such words, Christianity heritage, gave birth to a world’s vision that permits analyzing the retributive theology. As far education is concerned, love becomes the main reference, be it in relation to God, be it in relation to the other. The first century, the theme of this paper, represents the genesis of a teaching, a tribute to a transforming ideology, Jesus Christ as a water dividing mark in History for an considerable segment of humanity.
