Learning Organization: An Analysis of the Learning Culture in the Administration Department of the Rio Grande do Norte University

Abstract
Due to the fast changes in the market and the incited competitiveness, the organization model that learns became indispensable to the companies which they desire to differentiate in the business world. The universities cannot be oblivious to this new paradigm. The objective of this research was to verify the existing learning culture in the Administration Department of the Rio Grande do Norte University. In order to do that, an exploration study with the employees of the related department, was carried through professors and administrative technicians. The data collection was a questionnaire with co-related closed questions with the five proposals subjects for Peter Senge. The universe research was 36 employees for a sampling of 47% of these. The collected data demonstrate that 52.94% of the respondents judge that most of the time the information flow in efficient way in the department. With regard to the qualification, 47.06% had answered that they had concern with regard to the professors’ qualification, however, as regards the technicians, they need a bigger attention. In relation to the cooperation, 88.24% of the answers had pointed with respect to an atmosphere of satisfactory cooperation and, finally, the creativity also was analyzed resulting a percentage of 76.47% for a positive cooperation climate in the department. Thus, it can be evidenced for the research results that there is an environment with propitious trends to the organizational learning, however, it has a need of working the points that had gotten an inferior percentage, which cannot be disrespect, therefore they are basic for absorption and diffusion of the organizational learning.
