Abstract

This research discusses, on a historical basis, Egídio Romano’s philosophical ideas with special attention to the author’s concern in forming a concept of power for the contemporary historical period. It intends to examine the way Romano based his concept in his social reality, marked by transformations that pinpointed new perspectives with regards to men’s authority on Earth. The concept of power as formulated by Romano should be understood through debates involving medieval society within a period in which the community tried to build new methods of thought and political actions.
