Medicinal Herbs in a School Garden: Healthy Life Practice

Abstract

The habit of cultivating medicinal plants is as old as mankind. In some places, the cultivation of medicinal plants is the only therapeutic method, due to poor conditions of commuting to medical facilities in towns and cities, or to traditions handed down from ancestors, especially in the case of indigenous people. The large amount of drugs that may be extracted from herbal medicines interested health agents. Hundreds of non-governmental organizations, municipal and state health authorities try to enhance phytomedicines and medicinal plants as an optional therapy in the life of the Brazilian population. Participants in current study are members of the Iguaraçu APAE, Iguaraçu PR Brazil. With proper guidance, they selected seedlings and proper planting sites and planted medicinal herbs up to harvest and use.
