Abstract

Current analysis, undertaken at the University of Auburn in 2012, investigates the cultural and social relationships and its influence on the architecture of New Mexico, especially in Las Vegas NM USA. The cultural study on northeastern New Mexico shows social groups and archaic settlements such as the Pueblos which use the adobe as their unique architecture. While taking into consideration the track that the hermit Giovanni Maria Agostini-Justiniani used to take when living in the mountain known as El Cumbre del Solitario and connecting it to present day paths, the project tried to integrate cultural and social issues within the development of sustainable architecture. The intervention comprised homes, meeting places and workshops for wooden manual works related to local cultures coupled to the extant infrastructure. Analysis divulges culture and values local history.
