Up to the 1960s, poultry was just a subsistence activity. A poultry breeding integration between broiler producers and agro-industries was started during the 1960-1980 period to attend to market demands. In the 1980s broilers were produced on a large scale and the activity expanded to the southeastern and southern region of Brazil, when whole and cuts broilers were exported. The poultry sector developed during the last decade due to technological development which incorporated genetic and nutritional improvements, new processes, new technologies in production, installations and equipments, animal health, new organizational and dissemination methods to attend demands. Current qualitative, exploratory, bibliographical and descriptive research maps the technological trajectory of the broiler production chain in Brazil from primary and secondary sources. Data were retrieved from bibliographical and documental review in scientific books and journals. Current research is a contribution towards current technologies since Brazil is still dependent on foreign technology.Downloads
