Abstract

The present paper that deals about the style of teaching practiced for teachers in Physical Education classes in public and private schools of Maringá-Paraná, intends to verify the methodology used by teachers in the lessons of this discipline. It develops a descriptive research with sixteen teachers, of both sexes, belonging to groups from fifth to eighth grades from Elementary School. The research instrument was a questionnaire composed by seven closed and mixed questions. The main results demonstrated that the type of class more applied for teachers in public and private schools is the sporting initiation, and also that their use suggested, by literature, very little as important for formation of these pupils of this teaching level. At the end, it can be concluded that the methodology applied for teachers of both schools doesn't differ among itself and that classes making use of collective games and sport training prevails in the Physical Education classes.
