Assment of alimentary habits and some life quality indicators of the students of CESUMAR - Maringá/PR

Abstract

The objective of this disgnostic research was to evaluated some alimentary habits, the practice of physical activity and the preobesity and obesity prevalece in students of CESUMAR Maringá/PR. Thedata wa obtained with the aid of a questionnaire containing objective and subjective questions. 389 students were evaluted, 234 fameles and 155 males, ageing from 17 to 59 yars old. In agreement with BMI (Body Mass Index), 60% of the male population was eutrophic, 34% was pre-obese and 6,84% was obese, whereas 79,27% of the female population was eutrophic, 7% was pre-obese and obese and 13,51% was undernourished. Therefore, the pre-obese and obese students were predominanty males while the smallest BMI were exclusively verified in the females. The practice of physical activiy was mentioned by 45,69% of the females and 67,80% of the males. The alimentary habits evaluation demonstrated as routinely avoided by 44,87% of the female students and by 38,71% of the male ones such as fat, sweets and red meat. 93,13% and 90.79% of the womwn and 21,74% of the men mentioned the consumption three types of fruit a week. on the other hand, the consumption of fruit and vegetables was lower than the recommended by a balanced diet, and excessive consuption of fat in the diet associated whith the reduced pratice of phycical activity contribuled for the hih index of students with excessive weight.
