Abstract

Nowadays the discussion about exclusion and the akternatives to overcome it are very frequent. Not soldom we find proposals from different segments of the society such as politicans, business people and academics who show concem with the rise of unemployment, the lack of access to the basic health services, while others worry with the suffering, ethics and citizenship. Each of these segments has a different conception of exclusion, based on specific values, which suggests commitments and alternatives also specific. this refers to the idea that before we can propose alternatives on deling with exclusion, it is necessary to discuss about the conception that we are adopting to define exclusion, and then about the values which they are based upon. only by doing that we will be clear about the commitment we are taking and whom we are affectively helping when we propose to fight exclusion. thus, we propose this article is the partial result of the review of the literature for the Scientific initiation project entitle: "Maintenance education or transformation of the excluding reality: a study of the social representations of educations of a school in the poor area of Maringá".
