Abstract

The text tries to present some theoretical considerations related to the importance of the exchange market, showing it such as component member of the group of political macroeconomics. However, some concepts are recued as the one of the exchange rate, ocnsidering the Brazilian money in relation to the American dollar. The PPC - parity of the purchase power - and in a simple and free of mathematical derivations way the theoretical models of determining the exchange rate are presented, thus the different exghange regimes. Finally, the text shows the progress of the international financial system in which the international financial flows with its limits of performance reduced, indicating a tendency of difficult return to the system of fixed exchange, consequently, more and more strengthened the regime of flotation excange.
