Assessment of consumption of food containing additives with possible multigenetic properties by the students of the Nutrition course at University Center of Maringá-PR
Abstract
The article aims at clarifying what exactly a multigenetic agent is, analyzing substances such as caffeine, aspartme and saccharin, food addtives normally consumed by the population. It also focuses on the interaction of these compounds with human metabolism, with the intention of alerting the population about possible adverse affects. A bibliografhical research on books and scientific articles, as well as a field study, thouch a questionnaire applied designed by the students of the Nutrition Course at Cesumar (1st and 2nd years), were carried out for the identification of the mentioned substances eating habits. Based on the data collected, it has been identified that, among the interviewed, 58,86% do not know the concept applied to multigenetic agents, neither do they know about the metabolic interactions that the analyzed substances may represent to the body.
