Abstract

The aim of this research was to study the spatial and temporal limmnological variations in a lagoon in the Araguaia-Tocantins basin. Samplings were carried out every two weeks in the coastal and limnetic regions into three sites, being sites 1 and 3 at the extremity of the lagoon and the other one (site 2) at a central site of the lagoon. The variables depth, transparency, water temperature, dissolved oxygen, conductivity and pH were evaluated. The lowest concentrations of dissolved oxygen were recorded at the beginning of the rainy season. The dissolved oxygen and depth showed significant differences between the coastal and limnetic regions. During the drought period the lowest water transparency values and the highest turbidity values were recorded. Between dry and rainy season significant difference in the concentration of dissolved oxygen and conductivity was recorded.
