Brazilian semi-arid regions present low water availability, in addition to shallow soils poor in organic matter, which affects the development of agricultural production. Furthermore, the water bodies in these regions have exhibited elevated levels of eutrophication, leading to uncontrolled growth of aquatic macrophytes. Given these circumstances, this study analyzed the effects of applying aquatic macrophyte residues collected from Lagoa da Precabura, located between the municipalities of Fortaleza and Eusébio, Ceará, on Helianthus annuus L. plants under water deficit, evaluating growth variables: plant height (PH), stem diameter (SD), number of leaves (NL), relative chlorophyll content (RCC), drought tolerance index (DTI), and fresh mass production. The experimental design was completely randomized, arranged in a 2 x 4 factorial layout, with two water treatments (with irrigation and without irrigation) and four types of substrates: 1) 100% sand by volume (no fertilizer); 2) NPK in a 10:10:10 formulation (following the crop recommendation of 80 kg N ha?¹); 3) Neptunia at 160 kg N ha?¹; and 4) ROMM at 160 kg N ha?¹. At 33 days after sowing, supplementation with Neptunia resulted in greater increases in AP, NF, TRC, and root fresh mass, as well as improved ITS under both water conditions, indicating that the nutritional contribution of Neptunia significantly attenuated the deleterious effects of water stress. It is concluded that the use of macrophytes as a bioinputs is a sustainable alternative for the management of aquatic waste and for strengthening water resilience.
