Abstract

Factors related to rural leasing options are researched by investigating a case study in the municipality of Rio Verde GO Brazil, from data produced by the Agricultural and Livestock Censuses (1995 and 2006) and seen through an economic and sociological interpretation of Law. Accessing land by rural leasing follows the “habitus” of the social category interpreted as dimensions and logic of the deciding process. The formation of rural leasing and the category´s “habitus” within the context of family agriculture are highlighted as a central factor for the decision to access agricultural land through leasing in Rio Verde, Brazil.
