The use of industrial production waste of ciment and clay artifacts used in civil construction

Abstract

Ecosystems are changing and in many cases, being degraded in irreversible order. The global population growth and the excessive consumption increased the demand for natural resources, affecting directly many forms of life on the planet. The amount of solid waste generated by industrial activities also grew in global importance and environment, they are produced by several ways, representing worldwide millions of tons per day. The proper disposal of waste has become primary for environmental preservation, emerging the need to develop mechanisms to promote the awareness and find solutions to the deployment of capable technologies of minimizing the arising impacts from the disposal of these wastes in the environment and also reduce the involved costs in this activity. Thus, the recycling of waste is essential to the preservation, conservation and reduce of the exhaustible natural resources consumption in the planet, because it goes to the present needs without compromising the future generations and the planet’s survival. In this solution search for minimizing the environment damages in the construction sector, in which is a hive in the technology activity and a big consumer of natural resources, presents great potential for the use of solid waste into construction materials. So, it is possible to provide an environmentally correct destination for these wastes, otherwise it would become a source of water air or soil pollution. This paper presents a review focused on the use of such waste in the production of cement and clay bricks and blocks, with some considerations about the importance of construction receiving industrial solid waste and its contribution to the sustainable development of the planet.
