Abstract

This article describes and analyzes the main sources of satisfaction and dissatisfaction in the work of auxiliaries and assistants who work in a cooperative provider of supplementary health located in the interior of Minas Gerais, Brazil. A quantitative and qualitative case study was carried out using a reduced version of the JDS (Job Diagnostic Survey), from a classical conception of quality of life at work. The most significant results in terms of satisfaction were associated with the inter-relationship and significance of the task, while the indicators of dissatisfaction were related to the autonomy and the feedback received regarding the performance of tasks. Significant associations were found between variables of task content (skill variety, autonomy and extrinsic feedback) and task context (compensation system) with the amount of time working in current position. The quality of life at work in general showed an association with age, with younger administrative employees showing greater satisfaction when compared to older employees.
