Professional Nutricionist Performance in a Health Center School in the City of Umuarama -Paraná

Abstract

In this 47 years of recognized activity (1962) as top-level and health area, nutrition is growing and occupying new spaces. Initially seen as an area that studies the composition of foods, production conditions, storage and therapeutic uses. Today the nutrition has been seeing as an area that seeks to promote nutrition education through the action implementations to promote healthy eating habits, during private consultations and multidisciplinary programs of care in public health. Therefore this research aimed to highlight the work of a nutritionist in a School Health Center, in the city of Umuarama-PR, between the years 2005 to 2008, by analyzing the annual interview bookmarks with the Center and the nutritionist responsible for the nutrition sector for information about our activities, keeping in mind that in the local nutritionists have been increasingly required. The results showed that in 2006 and 2008 were the largest number of nutrition medical assistance, because of the greater number of medical referrals and implementation of health care. During 2008 occurred the highest number of home visits and in 2007 and 2008 there were the highest numbers of meetings. It was concluded that the activities carried out by nutritionists at the Center, follow the country national standard searched to carry out such activities, which are mostly intended for groups of hypertensive’s, diabetics, pregnant women and children. It is where the nutritionists seek to highlight the importance of healthy food and provide nutrition guidance.
