Abstract

Pelvic floor dysfunction known through the paradoxical contraction of the puborectalis (anismus) is a condition that can be found in patients with fecal incontinence. This work demonstrate that the biofeedback constitutes an important therapeutic tool for anorrectal and anismus (dysfunction of the pelvic floor). This is a case study of a patient who has fecal incontinence and anismus that was treated with biofeedback. The patient underwent physical therapy and medical evaluation and treatment through biofeedback and responded to the questionnaire quality of life. The patient was instructed to answer a quality of life questionnaire and underwent a physical therapy and medical evaluation, and after treatment through biofeedback. In our case study the patient improvement, decreased pelvic dysfunction and fecal incontinence, better bladder and bowel control and quality of life. So, after this study, we can infer that the association of training with biofeedback and household exercise helped to treatment of this disease.
