Abstract

Bibliography on the quality of the life of patients with chronic wounds in Brazil between 2000 and 2009 is analyzed. A systematic review of the literature was undertaken through a search on studies indexed at BIREME databases. Seven articles, a dissertation and a thesis were obtained; the former, corresponding to 50% of material, were mostly published in 2001 and 2006. Results showed that three articles were published in the online journal Ciencia y Enfermería, online Brazilian Journal of Nursing and The Journal of Nursing of UERJ, with one article each (16.6%). Four articles were published in the Jornal Vascular Brasileiro and in the Journal of Angiology and Vascular Surgery with two article each (33.3%). Taking into consideration the publications’ professional category, 62.5% belonged to the nursing field and 37.5% to the medicine one, all published in the southeastern region of Brazil. Knowledge on the characteristics on life quality of chronic wound patients would produce a change of focus which may establish more attention on one of the most important problems in Brazilian public health.
