Abstract

Research has shown how physiotherapy techniques benefited preterm infants. Although treatment should start in ICU and continued on an outpatient basis, it is a well-known fact that most children with deficiencies that could have been readily avoided continue treatment belatedly. Current investigation deals with early clinical physiotherapy. Twenty parents of preterm children born in Toledo PR Brazil and undergoing physiotherapy in specialized clinics between May and July 2009 answered a closed questionnaire with regard to aspects on physiotherapy indication and their satisfaction level in the treatment. Results show that only 10% of children continued outpatient treatment after hospital discharge, with improvement prognosis. Further, 85% of the parents were satisfied with the treatment and concluded that early physiotherapy indication and its continuity ensured more satisfactory results.
