Abstract

According to projections for 2020, coronary arterial diseases (CAD) will be the main morbidity and mortality cause worldwide. Cardiovascular rehabilitation may be an option for the treatment of patients and for the improvement of their life quality. Life quality of CAD patients who underwent a program of semi-supervised rehabilitation phase II was evaluated by current quantitative, descriptive and comparative study. The sample comprised 10 patients with coronary artery disease. Variables analyzed were body mass index (BMI), body mass (BM), systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), waist circumference (WA) and the eight measurements of the questionnaire Medical Outcome Study Short Form - 36 (MOS SF-36). Data were given in simple averages and analyzed by Student’s t Test (p <0.05). Data showed that the program of cardiovascular rehabilitation (PCR) reduced WA (4 cm in females and 2 cm in males) and improved life quality in all the eight measurements of MOS SF-36: functional capacity (pre-PCR=41 and post-PCR=63); pain (pre-PCR=20 and post-PCR=61.4); limitation for physical aspects (pre-PCR=25 and post-PCR=45) general state of health (pre-PRC=64.9 and post-PCR=82.7). All MOS SF-36 measurements were statistically significant (p<0.05) by Student’s t Test.
